Startup Bakery is on a mission to hire a Chief Technology Officer for our new startup, Veterly.

Veterly is an intelligent communication and telemedicine platform that helps veterinarians to simplify and make their relationships with customers more efficient, and to help a higher number of users to benefit of animal health services.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial Technical Leader / Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about growing a new product, business and team, but also get started on the hands-on coding from Day 1.

In this role you will be both a technical and people leader. As Veterly’s first technology hire, you will be responsible for leading and executing our current technology strategy. You will be responsible for building a future team of engineers, supporting them to do their best work and empowering them to succeed at taking on the challenges at the heart of the tech department of a startup we build together.

You’ll work closely with Startup Bakery's operating team. The Technology Department in Startup Bakery will provide support and coaching in all product strategy implementations, structures and key decisions making processes.

Key responsibilities:

• Be responsible of platform development and contribute to the development of our core algorithms
• Oversee all aspects of the product and contribute to key decisions on technical architecture
• Coordinate with third party agencies for software development
• Work closely with the CEO and the board to identify risks and opportunities
• Liaise and collaborate with the Technology Department team in Startup Bakery
• Be accountable for supporting hiring of potential technical members and engineers

Must have:

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant fields
• 3+ Years experience as a Technical Lead / Senior Software Engineer
• Experience taking an early stage projects forward
• Experience with server side languages, at least one among Python, Node.js, Scala or Java
• Knowledge of SQL and No-SQL databases
• Experience with Cloud Platforms, at least one among AWS, Azure, GCP
• Experience with Software Versioning systems (Git, Svn, etc.)
• Highly organised and able to manage time effectively
• Good written and spoken English

Bonus points:

• Experience with frontend frameworks, at least one among React, Angular or Vue.js
• Experience in leadership positions in startups
• Experience with big data and AI projects
• Knowledge of Docker or Kubernetes
• Knowledge of ElasticSearch/Mongo
