Position

Italdesign is expanding activities in   prototyping   and engineering in automotive interior and exterior lighting field. The Mechanical Designer, in collaboration within Italdesign/EE Lighting Team, is request to develop lighting components projects for show cars, small series and to collaborate with/steer lighting suppliers in series developments. This position will include collaboration in the complete integration of lighting components on the vehicle (optical, thermal, electronic aspects have to be taken into account). Candidates for consideration will be responsible for developing/installing lighting components   in internal projects as well as for external customers’ projects.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering/Integration of interior and exterior lighting components for show cars, small series, and series projects.
  • Pre-development/Feasibility phases: mechanical analysis of feasibility for interior/exterior lighting components to be installed on series or small series cars.
  • Prototypal development of innovative lighting projects.
  • Pre-development phases: mechanical feasibility analysis for automotive interior/exterior lighting components.
  • Development phases: collaborate with/steer exterior/interior lighting supplier.
  • Prototyping phases: develop mechanical prototypal solutions for lighting components/collaborate withsuppliers in developing prototypal solutions.
  • Validation phases:supporting mechanical validation phases for internal project as well as for customer projects (i.e. mountability tests - structural/thermal tests).
  • Interfacing in the different project phases different internal/customer departments (design/prototyping/engineering/validation/production).

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in field of Mechanical Engineering with a focus in integration of Automotive Components
  • At least 2 years of experience in field of Automotive Lighting components development and integration on the vehicle (rear and/or front-interior and/or exterior lighting)
  • Experience in CAD CATIA V5
  • MS Office (Excel, Power Point, Outlook) knowledge
  • General competences regarding relevant thermal, electronic, optical aspects for automotive lighting components.

 

    Other information

    • Education: Degree in mechanical or automotive engineering
    • Language skills: Fluent knowledge of written and spoken English and Italian are required. Knowledge of German would be appreciated
    • Workplace: Moncalieri (TO) and availability to travel.
