Position

Italdesign is looking for an Android Developer who possesses a passion for developing software applications and pushing the limits of technology.

Android, Google’s ubiquitous and highly successful mobile operating system, is now finding its way deeper into automotive applications. With the advent of the Android Automotive Open Source Project (not to be confused with “Android Auto”), the opportunity arises to develop applications native to the headunit in the car.

Italdesign has already demonstrated its capability to build an infotainment system using Android Automotive, and based on this success, we are now looking to expand our capacity in this domain. You will work with our team of talented engineers to design and build the next generation of automotive applications. You will work closely with our other engineering and UX/UI experts, and in conjunction with our customers’ development teams, to build advanced, connected experiences inside the car.

 

Responsibilities

  • Understand and contribute to a sound understanding of user requirements
  • Design and code applications for the Android Automotive platform, according to user requirements
  • Operate within an Agile development environment (certifications are a plus)
  • Work with outside data sources, services and APIs
  • Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
  • Work on bug fixing and improving application performance
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

Requirements

  • Proven software development experience and Android skills development
  • Proven working experience in Android development, and have ideally have published at least one original Android app
  • Experience with the Android SDK
  • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tool chains (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment)
  • Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
  • Solid understanding of the full development life cycle

Other information

  • Education: Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • Language skills: Fluent knowledge of written and spoken Italian and English are required. Knowledge of German would be appreciated
