The Italian Red Cross (CRI) is a non-profit and public interest private law association, placed under the high patronage of the President of Italian Republic and registered by law in the Voluntary Organizations section of the single national register of the Third sector, applying to it, although not otherwise provided for by Legislative Decree no. 178/2012, the Third Sector Code (Legislative Decree no. 117/2017). The CRI is a voluntary rescue and assistance company, auxiliary to public authorities in the humanitarian field.

The Italian Red Cross is consolidating its presence at an international level through International Cooperation activities in the humanitarian sector, in the development of National Societies and the exchange of skills in various areas.

Posizione

We are looking for a REGIONAL DELEGATE OF ETHIOPIA, who will report to the International Cooperation and Relations Unit.

CONTRACT TYPE: Co. Co. Co. (Project Contract)

DURATION OF THE CONTRACT: 12 months, renewable for additional 12 months

PLACE OF WORK: Addis Abeba (Ethiopia)


Duties and responsibilities


  • Need analysis, identification and formulation of new proposals for projects and cooperation initiatives, across different funding and donation opportunities, in close coordination with the relevant National Societies of the region, in collaboration with other Partner National Societies, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
  • Strengthen the partnership with Movement partners at national and regional level.
  • Context analysis at national and regional level for a more effective Cooperation planning, with particular attention to the emergency situation and related response.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the programs and activities that are supported in the region by the Italian Red Cross, following the guidelines and practices from the ItRC, National Societies, Movement partners and donors.
  • Manage the activities carried out by the delegation in coordination with the Host National Societies, the IFRC and the ICRC.
  • Identify and formulate new project proposals to submit to different donors, in collaboration with the Host National Societies and other Movement partners.
  • Participate in networks and clusters together with the Host National Societies and other interested partners, to guarantee synergy, common strategies and avoid duplication and overlapping of initiatives.
  • Follow the strategic indications from ItRC headquarters, regarding the relationship with the local counterpart, the National Societies, the ICRC and the IFRC in relation to the current and future activities.
  • In consultation with the Host National Societies and in close collaboration with other Movement partners, contribute to the Organizational Development and National Society Development of the Host National Societies.
  • Supervision, control and reporting of the funding managed by ITRC.
  • Support the annual planning of the ItRC activities, in coordination with the national headquarters.
  • Preparation of mid-term and final reports and any other informative material requested by the Italian Red Cross in relation to the status of the activities undertaken.
  • Manage and prepare communication material (articles and/or audio-visual material).
  • Any other task requested by the Head of International Cooperation and/or the Head of Africa and MENA the Italian Red Cross.

Requisiti

Studies

  • University studies related to Cooperation and International Relations

Technical skills

  • Good knowledge of the humanitarian field with particular reference to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent knowledge of English

Professional Experience

  • Proven experience in the management of international development and humanitarian cooperation projects, with special reference to the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Experience in administrative and financial management of a delegation
  • Proven experience in identifying and formulating projects
